BOX II consists of thirty square hardboards (20 x 20 cm), each of which has been painted with ‚Caput Mortuum’. By means of a setframe they are constructed into a bottomless rectangular box, 60 cm high. As each board has been painted separately on the outside of the case fingerprints and the marks of work can still be seen. The inside of the box is painted with a mixture of beeswax and ‚Caput Mortuum’ until the gaps between the boards disappeared and gave way to a smooth, even surface.
At first sight Box II seems to be for transport. Stepping closer, one notices the slightly shining dark red lining of the box and the absence of its base.
